Organizing
The world for which we strive is under attack. Our elected officials and systems are well and truly failing us. Human beings are being taken from the streets. Communities are being silenced. And the ruling class — oligarchy, the CEOs, the venture capitalists, the 1%ers — they are winning.
This is the time to organize. Not after the next election. Now.
The problem is, though, that most of us (or most of the white ones of us) are not sure what ‘organizing’ actually means. Sure, we know how to donate, or show up to marches, and we can certainly doomscroll with abandon. Yet when it comes to building the actual infrastructure of resistance, we’re often fumbling in the dark.
That's why The Progressivists has partnered with FictionToAction.
FictionToAction is a community focused on ‘relational organizing’, which is where you tap into your personal networks to create solutions and change. This means you’re hitting up people you already know, the communities you’re already in, rather than cold calls and door-knocking awkwardness. Just real relationships doing really fucking important work.
And FictionToAction uses the stories we already love to guide these organizing principles. Because every bad-ass heist movie is actually a masterclass in team coordination, every horrific dystopia is a warning we failed to heed, and every found-family narrative is mutual aid in disguise. Authors and filmmakers have been training us for this. FictionToAction just connects the dots — and puts us to work.
